American Gold Buffalo Coins

The American Gold Buffalo was ordered by the U.S. Government, for the first time, in order to compete with other 24K gold coins (such as the popular Canadian Gold Maple Leaf). When production began on the Gold Buffalos in 2006, the US Mint had now produced its first 99.9% pure (24k) gold coin. The U.S. Gold Buffalo is the second most popular modern U.S. gold bullion coin made by the US Mint, the first being the U.S. Gold Eagle.
