40% Silver Bags

Mint State Gold's 40% silver bags offer an alternative for bulk silver investors who want to benefit from our years of expertise and integrity. These bags contain half-dollars - minted between 1965 and 1970 by the U.S. Mint — which are still legal tender today, though their actual value is tied to the market price of silver rather than their face value denomination. If you're looking for a convenient way to start a precious metals portfolio, our 40% silver bags are a good way to begin. Check current pricing below and place your order online, or contact our office by phone or email for assistance.

About Our 40% Silver Bags

We offer our 40% silver bags in three sizes, which correspond to the face value of the coins they contain:

  • $1000 silver bags, which include 2,000 silver half dollars, or the equivalent of 295 ounces of pure silver

  • $2500 silver bags, which contain 5,000 silver half dollars, or the equivalent of 738 ounces of pure silver

  • $5000 silver bags, which include 10,000 silver half dollars, or the equivalent of 1,475 ounces of pure silver

The coins in these bags are rarely circulated as U.S. coinage today, primarily due to their actual value as a precious metal far exceeds their worth as U.S. coinage. However, as legal currency, they do offer a guaranteed level of purity and silver content, which makes them a more reliable investment than, for example, jewelry or other silver goods.

Why Invest in Silver?

People have traded silver for thousands of years. Though initially prized for its luster, today, it is also a component of a variety of important industrial processes. Unlike other precious metals, there are currently no above-ground stockpiles of silver. As a result, when demand rises — whether due to an increase in investor interest or manufacturer needs — prices tend to increase accordingly. If you follow the market, it is possible to make strategic purchases that can potentially generate substantial returns.

As with any investment, a portfolio built entirely around silver will be highly vulnerable. Most investors recommend diversifying your holdings with a mix of precious metals and more conventional products. Part of the appeal of our 40% silver bags is that they give you something tangible you can hold and see, which provides an additional sense of security and control.

Learn More About Buying Silver

Unlike our rare silver coins, the value of our 40% silver bags lies almost entirely in their investment potential. If you'd like to learn more, be sure to check out our Investor Education library, where we have a large selection of articles covering topics such as the history of silver, reading and tracking the market, and putting together a portfolio.
