Bullion, made of precious metals such as Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium, is a category of investment that covers coins, bars, and rounds. Their value is primarily dependent upon the quantity of the metal in the coin and are produced in large qualities. This means that they carry a very small premium above their cost, when compared to other categories we offer. Since the Bullion coin prices are so closely tied to the fluctuations in the price of metals, these are ideal for a short investment with the potential for a good return.

All Bullion coins are produced from government mints and are produced in large quantities. Sovereign governments such as the United States and Canada also give their coins a denomination in common amounts like, $5, $20 and $50 when minted. This way, the government minting the piece can call it a ‘coin’. Usually, the Gold, Silver, Platinum or Palladium within each coin is worth far more than its face value. For example, a $50 Gold coin would be worth far more than its face value because it usually contains 1 oz of Gold. A $1 Silver coin is normally worth more than its face value of $1 because it may have over 1 oz of Silver.

American Platinum Eagles

American Platinum Eagles are made of 99.95% pure platinum and available in 1/10 troy ounce ($10), ¼ troy ounce ($25), ½ troy ounce ($50), and one troy ounce ($100) denominations. The U.S. Mint has produced bullion and Proof versions of the coin every year since 1997. Burnished Platinum Eagles were released between 2006 and 2008 and sold directly to collectors by the U.S. Mint.

Royal Canadian Mint

The Royal Canadian Mint produced its first Platinum Maple Leaf coin in 1988. Though initially minted in a variety of denominations and sizes, a one-ounce, $50 version has been the standard since 2009. As of 2017, this is the country's only official platinum bullion. It features 9995 pure platinum with the iconic maple leaf design on the obverse and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt in 2003 on the reverse face.

The Platinum Maple Leaf was the world’s best-selling platinum bullion coin in 2012. Today, it remains a popular choice for both investors and collectors. Like other Royal Canadian Mint bullion products, the most recent Platinum Maple Leaf coins include several advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting and protect your investment.

Palladium Coins & Products

Some of the palladium coins and other products you’ll find in the Mint State Gold online store include:

U.S. Palladium Eagles:

These are the official palladium bullion coin of the U.S. Mint, featuring a high-relief strike and containing .9995 fine palladium. Introduced in 2017, Palladium Eagles incorporate two design elements originally created by Adolph A. Weinman: the Winged Liberty from the Mercury Dime, and the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal reverse design.

Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf Coins:

These are some of the most popular palladium bullion coins manufactured today. Like the U.S. Eagle, the Palladium Maple Leaf contains one troy ounce of .9995 pure palladium. In 2015, The Royal Canadian Mint updated the design to include several unique security features, such as a laser-engraved maple leaf on the reverse side.
