About Palladium

Palladium is a precious metal that was initially used in medical treatments, but can now be found in a variety of consumer goods, electronics, and jewelry. British chemist and metallurgist William Hyde Wollaston discovered it in 1803. Today, Russia and South Africa mine most of the world's supply.

Palladium has a brilliant luster, is easy to work with, and does not tarnish when exposed to air. It can be combined with gold to produce white gold, a material of choice for jewelry making that was first used in 1939. Though it shares many characteristics with platinum, palladium is far more abundant.

Palladium Pricing

Supply and demand largely determine the price of palladium. Because there are no above-ground stockpiles of it, when production is interrupted or demand increases, its value rises. Conversely, when demand drops, prices go down with them.

Palladium Products

Some of the palladium coins and other products you’ll find in the Mint State Gold online store include:

  • U.S. Palladium Eagles: These are the official palladium bullion coin of the U.S. Mint, featuring a high-relief strike and containing .9995 fine palladium. Introduced in 2017, Palladium Eagles incorporate two design elements originally created by Adolph A. Weinman: the Winged Liberty from the Mercury Dime, and the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal reverse design.
  •

  • Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf Coins: These are some of the most popular palladium bullion coins manufactured today. Like the U.S. Eagle, the Palladium Maple Leaf contains one troy ounce of .9995 pure palladium. In 2015, The Royal Canadian Mint updated the design to include several unique security features, such as a laser-engraved maple leaf on the reverse side.
  •

  • Palladium Bars: As an alternative to official bullion coins, we source all our precious metal bars from trusted manufacturers around the world. Our palladium bars contain 10 ounces of .9995 fine pure palladium. Contact Mint State Gold for availability information.
  •
