Mint State Gold is proud to offer a wide variety of international coins for collectors and investors, including a wide selection of the popular gold bullion from Australia. Australia has two operational mints, the Royal Australian Mint which is responsible for Australia’s circulating currency as well as some bullion production, and the Perth Mint which produces most of Australia’s signature Gold and Silver Bullion and commemorative coins. The most recognizable of Australia’s coins features the iconic marsupial and national animal of Australia: the Kangaroo. Gold Kangaroos are Australia’s legal tender bullion coins, comparable to the U.S. Gold Buffalo. Originally the coins were called Gold Nuggets. From 1986, when the coins were first minted, to 1989 the reverse of the Bullion coins featured images of famous gold nuggets found during the Australian Gold Rush. The design of the Gold Kangaroo changes annually, featuring different kangaroos and providing collectors and investors the opportunity to buy a unique design each year. Mint State Gold is pleased to provide a continually rotating stock of Australian Kangaroos, if you’re looking for a specific design, please contact us at 888-454-0444.
The Lunar Series
Australia’s bullion is well-known for featuring different animals from Koalas and Kookaburras to the Australian Brumby. One of the most well-known collections from the Perth Mint features the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The Australian Lunar Series of bullion coins was established in 1996 and the reverse design changes each year, following the Lunar Calendar. All Australian coins have a similar design on their obverse featuring the effigy of the current monarch of the British Commonwealth.
