Swiss Gold Coins History and Background

The most critical development in the history of Swiss gold coinage was the introduction of the Helvetia in 1850. Before that, the country had no standardized currency. In fact, at one point an estimated 75 entities were minting coins in the region, each of which had its own monetary system. At times, more than 860 coins were in active circulation.

The release of the Helvetia standardized currency in the region. The Helvetia depicts Vreneli, an idealized Swiss maiden, wearing a garland of flowers on its obverse. On the reverse is the Republic's coat of arms and national wreath. Helvetia coins have a value of 20 Swiss Francs and are made from .900 purity gold.

Our Inventory

Mint State Gold frequently has both pre- and post-1933 Swiss gold Helvetia coins for sale. The majority of our products are ungraded, in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, making them an excellent choice for both investment and collecting purposes.

Pre-1933 gold coins are exempt from IRS Form 1099 reporting requirements, which gives them some tax and privacy advantages. Either can be a great way of adding to your precious metals portfolio, or of starting a collection of rare European coins. We stock only high-quality products that display brilliant luster and fine details.

Swiss Gold Bars

Swiss gold bars are an alternative to investing in bullion coins. We carry PAMP (Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux) and Credit Suisse products that are refined to the highest standard possible, 99.99% pure 24-karat gold.

Collecting gold is widely considered to be a way of diversifying your portfolio and insulating it from the uncertainty of the stock market. Credit Suisse and PAMP gold bars are an excellent option for anyone who wants to start building a collection of gold investment products.

At Mint State Gold, our goal is to help investors make smart decisions based on their budget and goals. We would be happy to help you assess the pros and cons of buying Credit Suisse and PAMP gold bars as an investment.
