Presenting a bag of 40% Silver Half Dollars with a $1,000 face value. These bags will contain Silver Kennedy Half Dollars minted between 1965 and 1969. A convenient and versatile way to own silver, these bags are made up of circulated U.S. half dollar coins that are legal U.S. tender, with a 40% silver content for a total of 295 ounces of silver!

The majority of the coins in these bags, though still legal currency, are rarely seen in circulation today due to their silver content and subsequent increased value. Though they may still be legally used for their face value for monetary transactions, their true value is substantially higher than the coins’ face value based on their silver content and rising silver prices.

Silver has been used as everyday “hard” money for more than 6,000 years. The Ancient Greek and Roman silver coins were instantly accepted throughout their massive empires. Today, silver is too valuable to be used in circulating coinage, but is bought and sold in vast quantities throughout the world. There are no above-ground government stockpiles of refined silver to meet a sudden surge of demand and because silver is primarily mined as a by-product of other metals, silver production cannot quickly respond to rising prices.
