The American Gold Eagle, first produced in 1986, was the first gold coin from the U.S. Mint since 1933. Today, the Gold Eagle series is the most popular gold bullion series produced within the United States. American Eagle gold investment coins have provided strong returns over the years, and some have proven to be quite collectible and remain at the pinnacle of high-end collections. Popular among both collectors and investors, American Gold Eagle coins are a great way to diversify your portfolio.

About American Eagle Coins

While gold coins are an important part of American history, the U.S. Mint ceased production of them entirely between the years 1933 and 1986. That changed with the passage of the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, which once again authorized the manufacture of U.S. gold coins for collectors and investors markets.

American Eagle gold coins have been minted every year since. Though they’re legal tender, their face value doesn’t reflect their actual worth, which is tied to the market price of gold and, as a result, is considerably higher.

Why Buy American Eagle Gold Coins?

American Eagle gold coins are an excellent choice if:

  • You want a sound, short-term investment
  • You want to start or add to a collection of U.S. gold coins
  • You want to support the U.S. Mint and buy responsibly sourced gold from American producers

We have a variety of products available depending on your needs. Our inventory includes standard 1 oz. American Eagle gold coins from all years. These include Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coins sold in their original rolls, as well as business strike coins that have been graded Mint State (MS) by the Professional Coin Grading System (PCGS) and the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).

We also sell proof and burnished Gold Eagle coins. These are coins that are produced primarily for the collectors’ market using special minting techniques that create a high level of detail. Proof coins are finished to a mirror-like surface, whereas burnished coins are unpolished.
