Market Volatility Caused by U.S. Dollar Index and 20-Year Highs in 10-Year Treasuries

GOLD

20-Year highs in 10-Year Treasuries (3.70%), and the U.S. Dollar Index (111.81) are causing a lot of volatility in the Gold markets around the world. After yesterday’s Fed announcement of a ¾% increase in the Fed Funds rate, Gold rallied to a high of $1,688 per ounce. As the Gold market rolled into Asian trading, selling came in again, driving the price down to $1,855 during Asian trading. At 11am PT Today, Gold is trading at $1,670 per ounce, up $15 from yesterday.

SILVER

Silver moved above $19.50 in early U.S. trading today on the strength of Gold. Demand remains strong on limited supplies of many of the popular Silver coin and bar investment items. At 11am PT today, Silver is up $0.25 per ounce, trading at $19.55 on strong volume.
