Iran Imports $7.6 Billion In Gold Through Khomeini Airport

Khomeini Airport handles billions in gold amidst record import year.

Imam Khomeini International Airport processed 96 tons of gold imports valued at $7.651 billion during the Iranian fiscal year ending 20 March 2025, according to the airport’s Director General of Customs, Alam Hossein Nohi.

 

Speaking on Monday, Nohi reported that total imports through the airport south of Tehran reached 65,000 tons of goods worth $14.238 billion, representing a 66 per cent increase in value compared to the previous year.

 

Gold led the import categories, followed by mobile phones valued at $1.713 billion and raw materials for pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing.

The airport also saw passenger traffic rise to nearly 8 million travelers during the same period, marking a 6 per cent growth year-on-year.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
