Description

Here is a France 1855A Gold Napoleon 100 Francs in AU condition. This Almost Uncirculated coin was minted in Paris and contains .9334 ounce of Gold. This Gold Napoleon has bright golden surfaces and nice detail throughout.

The obverse features a right facing bust with the inscription "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR". The reverse features a crowned coat of arms with denomination with the inscription "EMPIRE FRANCAIS" above it.

Napoleon III, the nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, was elected president in 1852 after the Revolution of 1848 and served as the emperor of France from 1852 until 1870. Napoleon III strove to restore the glory of France to the lofty stature attained under his famous uncle but eventually met defeat at the hands of the Prussians at the Franco-Prussia War of 1870.
