Description

Here is a France 1881A Gold Angel 100 Francs in UNC condition. This Uncirculated coin was minted in Paris and contains .9334 ounce of Gold. This Gold Angel has bright golden surfaces and nice detail throughout.

The obverse features a standing Angel writing the Constitution with a rooster on the right, fasces on the left and the inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". The reverse features the year and denomination within a circular wreath and the inscription "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" above it, along with "DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE" on the edge of the coin.

These Gold Angels are known to bring luck to their owners and are often referred to as "Lucky Angels". The legend behind it dates back to the French Revolution when the coin's designer claimed to have been saved from the guillotine by the lucky Angel coin in his pocket.
