Description

These Napoleon era French gold rarities, minted only between 1849-51, are scarce because they were minted before the French Angel and Rooster, and rarely are available in high grade. In Almost Uncirculated - Brilliant Uncirculated condition, each coin is struck from 90% fine Gold and has an actual Gold Weight of .1867 ounce. This is in the World Coins Book as KM# 762.

The Obverse features a right facing bust of Marianne, the Goddess of Liberty wearing an oak leaf wreath along with the inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". The reverse features the denomination within the wreath with the mintmark and date below, along with the inscription "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE".
