GOLD
Gold and Silver prices are down slightly today as trade quiets in anticipation of the Federal Reserve Symposium beginning today in Jackson Hole. Gold prices are showing an overall positive trend following the release of weak preliminary PMI data and continued disappointing economic data coming out of China. This data, as well as the continued retreat of the U.S. Dollar Index and U.S. Treasury yields, has brought some safe haven buying of the precious metal.
Investors eagerly await Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech scheduled for Friday, anticipating insights into the Fed’s stance on interest rates.
At 11am PT today, Gold is trading at $1917.63 per ounce, down $0.60.
SILVER
Silver prices have experienced some pricing correction along with Gold, falling from the three-week high we saw yesterday, but remain above the $24 level.
At 11am PT today, Silver is trading at $24.15 per ounce, down $0.21.
