Silver Eagle bullion coins sales headed for another record-setting year

With the U.S. Mint recording its second best sales month ever for Silver Eagles in September, expectations are high that trade in American Silver Eagle bullion coins may shatter records again this year.

With sales of 4,460,500 coins last month American Silver Eagle bullion coins set U.S. Mint records as the second best month ever for Silver Eagle sales.

September 2011 ranks just behind January 2011’s all-time record sales of 6,422,000 Silver Eagle coins.

With five months of 2011 ranking in the top 10 listing for Silver Eagle sales, it is anticipated that 2011 will be the best year ever for the Silver Eagle bullion coins.

2010 recorded record Silver Eagle sales of 34,662,500 bullion coins. This year’s sales were reported at 33,411,500 Silver Eagle bullion coins at the end of September. With three months remaining, the U.S. Mint only needs to sell another 1,251,000 Silver Eagles to tie the record.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Mint reported a total of 386,600 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion five-ounce coins as of Oct. 4, 2011.
