This 2022 $250 Batman Classic PF70UCAM Graded by NGC with First Releases designation. Minted by the New Zealand Mint for the island nation of Niue, this 1 oz Gold Proof Batman coin continues the mint's DC Classics series featuring iconic superhero characters, which includes other heroes such as Superman and the Flash.

The island nation of Niue and the country of New Zealand recognize this coin as legal tender with a denomination (legal face value) of $250. This coin is in a lustrous PR70UCAM condition, certified First Releases by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), featuring a black core protective case to maintain integrity and match the Dark Knight's suit.

Created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, Batman debuted in the 27th issue of "Detective Comics" (the namesake for DC) on March 30, 1939. Batman's origin story follows a young Bruce Wayne who witnesses the loss of his parents. From then on he swears vengeance against all criminals and takes on the ideal of justice, training himself physically and intellectually to penalize those who do wrong. Since then, he's been featured in numerous comics and even crossed the boundary into many shows, video games, and movies and is a staple to many comic fandoms.

The reverse of this coin features a stoic close-up of the iconic character with the classic logo over his shoulder. The inscriptions "1 oz 9999 Fine Gold" and "BATMAN & DC (s22)" curl along the ring circling behind Batman. The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II along with the inscriptions "Elizabeth II," "Niue," "250 Dollars," and "2022.".

First Release coins are produced using the first dies forged by the Mint for a particular series. Use of these first dies typically result in a higher quality strike and finer details. A coin must be proven to have been released by the Mint within the first 30 days of issuance to be designated First Release. Only a limited quantity of coins will be classified First Release during any production run, making them prized among collectors and investors for their increased scarcity and added beauty.
