Description

Here is a Set of 2 1794 / 1795 Colonial New York Talbot Allum Lee Cent. The 1794 is in Fine condition & the 1795 is in Extra Fine condition. The obverse features a statue of Lady Liberty along with the inscription "LIBERTY & COMMERCE". The reverse features a ship with the inscription "TALBOTT ALLUM & LEE". The 1794 coin has the denomination at the bottom. These are in the World Coins book as KM# Tn71.1&Tn72.2.

Talbot, Allum & Lee, engaged in the India trade, placed a large quantity of English-made coppers into circulation during 1794 and 1795. The 1794 coin has a legend on the edge that reads "PAYABLE AT THE STORE OF". While the 1795 coin has the legend "WE PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ONCE CENT".
