Description

Here is a Uruguay 1930 Gold 5 Pesos Artigas in Uncirculated condition. Containing .2501 oz AGW, 100,000 of these coins were produced but only 14,415 were released, the remainder was withheld. This coin commemorates the 100 year of the establishment of the Uruguayan Republic. This is in the World Coins book as KM #27.

The obverse features a right facing bust of Jose Gervasio Artigas, who was a Gaucho soldier that led the Banda Oriental. The reverse features the date, flanked by sprigs below the denomination.
