This 1909-S 1c Lincoln Cent is the coveted VDB variety and has been graded a well-deserved Gem MS65RD by PCGS. The surfaces gleam with strong mint luster. Vibrant red and gold hues grace the obverse and reverse, complementing the well-struck devices. This 1909 San Francisco VDB Lincoln Wheat Cent impressive with outstanding eye-appeal.

Coming from the First Year of Mintage, this Lincoln Cent is a desirable collectible. Designed by Victor D. Brenner, the Lincoln Cent was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth, and a limited quantity of the 1909 cents bare the initials VDB on the reverse. Later in 1909, the Secretary of the Treasury ordered the initials removed, but they were eventually restored in 1918 and appear on all Lincoln Cents after that date.
