Description

Recovered from the S.S. Republic wreckage, this 1864-S $20 Liberty has graded MS61 by NGC. This Gold Double Eagle is nice for the grade, featuring smooth surfaces that have minimal abrasions for the grade. The fields are exceptionally lustrous with a warm straw-gold hue shining across this Liberty. The devices are well-preserved and rest atop frosty fields. This 1864-S $20 Liberty was part of a significant maritime and numismatic event and will me sure to please the avid collector.

From an original mint of 793,660, very few 1864-S $20 Libertys remain to have graded higher than this MS61. Current NGC population shows ONLY 7 have graded MS61 and ONLY 10 have graded finer. This is a rare opportunity to add a historically significant and rare Liberty to your collection.
