Description

Here is a 1923 $20 Saint Gaudens graded MS65 by PCGS. This Gold Double Eagle features smooth and bright surfaces that shine with a brilliant original mint luster. The lovely fiery hue of this Saint provides an eye-catching glow. The devices are crisp and feature nice high-point detail. There is a spot on the reverse but it does not detract from the Gem quality of this Double Eagle.

In 1923, the Philadelphia Mint produced a mere 566,000 Saint Gaudens Double Eagles. St. Gaudens coins of this high caliber are becoming increasingly more difficult to find in gem graded condition. Current PCGS population reports show that from that entire 1923 Philadelphia mintage, ONLY 2 graded MS65+ and ONLY 4 have graded MS66.
