OGH

A favorite among investors and collectors, this 1924 Saint Gaudens is an ideal investment for anyone... in a rare first-generation PCGS green holder (OGH), and graded Choice MS62 by PCGS, this Gold Double Eagle is an attractive example from a popular mintage. With ample appeal, this $20 gold piece has a lovely amber glow and nice velvety luster. Featuring well struck devices and plenty of detail throughout, this handsome Saint Gaudens' will please any investor or collector.

What makes this coin even more valuable AND even more appealing is the original, early generation green PCGS holder, referred to as OGH. Because they were graded during a more conservative period of PCGS' history, the majority of OGH coins are in superior condition to their counterparts. OGH coins have been known to upgrade one, sometimes even two grades, when resubmitted to PCGS! As a result of the more conservative grading standards and upgrade possibilities, OGH coins typically command prices averaging about 20% higher than their contemporary counterparts.

Minted from 1907-1933, these $20 Gold coins, known as St. Gaudens Double Eagles are considered by many to be the most beautiful type of U.S. coin ever minted. Augustus Saint-Gaudens was the first sculptor to ever design an American coin. In late 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt called upon the renowned American sculptor to redesign the U.S. $20 Gold Double Eagle coin. Roosevelt's desire was for American coinage to be as beautiful as the coins of ancient Greece.
