A delicate blend of golden-peach color accented by fiery amber highlights radiate from the lustrous surfaces of this ultra rare MS64+ Saint. The extensive details on the devices are quite beautiful against the smooth, creamy fields. From the sharp definition of Liberty's hair, fingers, and toes on the obverse, to the crisply defined eagles' beak, neck, and feathers on the reverse, this magnificent 1931 Denver minted gold coin is as close to GEM as it gets.

In 1931 the Denver Mint produced a mere 106,500 Double Eagles. Most of those never left the Treasury or bank vaults and were ultimately melted as a result of FDR's Gold Confiscation Act of 1932. It is estimated that only 100 or so gold coins from this mintage remain today. Current PCGS population shows this is the ONLY 1 to get the MS64+ PLUS grade from PCGS and only 21 have graded higher than this splendid Gold Denver Double Eagle.
