ONLY 48 graded MS70, struck with unfinished PR dies, low mintage, gorgeous luster, sharp details, superb eye-appeal… This gorgeous 1999-W $5 American Gold Eagle has graded a perfect MS70 by PCGS. This 1999-W 1/10 ounce Gold Eagle features crisp, well-struck devices on smooth, gleaming Gold fields. From the high-point detail to the beautiful lustrous surfaces, this $5 Gold Eagle is certain to please any numismatist or Gold collector!

In 1999 the demand for $5 and $10 Gold Eagles skyrocketed, catching the U.S. Mint off guard. In an attempt to fulfill the demand the Mint started to strike Mint State Eagles with a West Point Proof Die. Many consider this to be in error as only Proof coins were supposed to bear the ‘W’ mint mark, thus making this 1999-W $5 Gold Eagle in PCGS MS70 a true collector’s item. Current PCGS population shows that ONLY 48 graded MS70.
