Description

Here is a lovely 1887 Great Britain 5 Sovereign Pound graded MS61 by NGC. This Gold 5 Pound coin gleams with a bright original mint luster. The surfaces are clear and the fields are very reflective for a Mint State strike. The devices are sharply struck and provide excellent detail on both the obverse and the reverse. There are some copper spots that can be seen in the pictures.

The Great Britain 5 Pound Queen Victoria was minted only in 1887, with a relatively low mintage of 54,000. The obverse features Queen Victoria wearing a small crown and veil. The reverse shows the popular motif of St. George slaying a dragon. At 1.1775 oz. AGW (Actual Gold Weight), this Gold 5 Pound coin would make a great addition to a world gold collection.
